Roaming Data — eSIM FAQs

What is an eSIM?

The term “eSIM” simply means an embedded SIM card. No physical SIM cards are involved; you don't need to swap. An eSIM is a small chip inside your phone that works similarly to the NFC chip used for payment techs like Apple Pay and Google Pay.

The information on an eSIM is rewritable, meaning you can decide to change your operator with a simple phone call. They're straightforward to add to a data plan – connecting devices with eSIMs to a mobile account can be done in minutes.

eSIM is a new standard developed by GSMA and used worldwide. It allows users to access the mobile network without a physical SIM card. eSIM stores phone numbers, subscription packages, and configurations so your device can connect seamlessly.

What services can be used with Roaming Data?

Two versions are available: one data-only, and one supporting both voice and data. The data-only version permits data use exclusively, whereas the other allows you to make/receive calls, send/receive SMS messages, and use data.

What is the Fair Usage Policy for unlimited plans?

Unlimited data plans are subject fair usage policies - typically 3GB or 4 GB per day of high-speed data followed by unlimited data at 1 mbps. The speed is reset daily. These are clearly mentioned on the product pages. For full access unlimited plans, the operators may apply a fair usage policy where speeds may reduce after 10 GB of high-speed usage during a day.

Do I need to submit any documentation?

No documents are typically required. For transactions flagged by our payment gateway, we may request ID verification (handled securely as per our privacy policy) to prevent fraud. For help, email support@roaming-data.com.

Why is using eSIM better than public Wi-Fi while travelling?

Public Wi-Fi can be insecure. eSIMs use encrypted cellular networks, giving you safer, more reliable connectivity and reducing exposure to cyber risks.
